Indication

*Primary/secondary adrenocorticoid insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, nonsuppurative thyroidity, to treat certain types of cancer

* Relieves inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to treat certain forms of arthritis; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis); severe allergies; and asthma

*Cerebral edema

Dose

Adults:
*Initial dose varies from 0.5 - 9 mg/day, 2 -4 times a day or depending on the severity of the disease
*Mild disease, dose < 0.75 mg
*Severe disease, dose > 9mg
