Indication

The first choice for the treatment of typhoid, paratyphoid fever.

*Severe infections by:
*Salmonella Sp.
*H. Influenzae (especially meningual infections)
*Rickettsiae
*Lymphogranuloma - psittachosis group
*Gram negative (gm-ve) bacteremia and meningitis

Dose

Adults, children and babies over 2 weeks old:
*50mg/kg body weight, 3 - 4 doses a day.
Babies under 2 weeks old: 25mg/kg body weight, a day in two divided doses
